What is Atlas Leaf Guard?
Material quality has a direct impact on how long a gutter system will perform. Considering Florida’s heat, humidity, and heavy rainfalls, materials are something we need to take very seriously. Choosing the right material helps protect your home and landscaping from water damage.
At Gecko Gutter, we use aluminum sourced from established manufacturers. Our choices are selected specifically for durability in this climate. We like aluminum because it is lightweight, resistant to rust, and well-suited for handling the weather in Florida.
By starting with reliable materials, we’re able to install gutter systems designed to perform and that require minimal upkeep for our customers.
How Atlas Has Performed for Our Customers
Gecko Gutter has been installing Atlas Leaf Guard on residential homes for more than five years. During that time, we have received consistently positive feedback from homeowners who chose this system. We have never had a request for removal or replacement.
The level of long-term satisfaction that we have seen among our customers has made Atlas one of the products we feel most comfortable recommending.
Water Flow Performance
One of the biggest concerns homeowners have about leaf guards is whether they will slow down water flow during heavy rain. As you can imagine, this is a concern in Florida more than most other areas in the country. Atlas performs very well in this area because the micro mesh screen allows water to pass through quickly while still blocking debris.
You can see an example of the water flow performance in the video below.

The Gecko Gutter Installation Process
We install Atlas Leaf Guard using screws to ensure maximum strength and stability. The outer lip of the product includes an optional adhesive strip, but we generally do not rely on adhesive during installation.
Using screws allows individual sections to be easily removed if they are ever damaged by something like a fallen tree limb. It also allows the guards to be temporarily removed and reinstalled if your home ever requires a roof replacement.
Instead, we carefully bend each piece to fit the specific pitch and edge of your roofline. This approach protects your shingles while still providing a secure installation. The result is a clean finished appearance that blends well with the roof.
In this installation, the leaf guard was folded over and tucked up against the underside of the roof edge for a perfect fit to match the roof pitch.
Additional Benefits of Atlas Leaf Guard
Atlas Leaf Guard uses a tightly woven stainless steel mesh with openings of approximately 550 microns.
This fine mesh helps block very small debris while still allowing water to flow freely into the gutter.
- Complies with ANSI 63 2013 standards for rainwater harvesting and prefiltration
- Keeps out nearly all leaves, pine needles, and roof debris
- Stainless steel mesh resists corrosion and weather exposure
- Thick aluminum ribbing helps maintain a smooth and straight gutter line
- Debris such as sticks typically brush off easily without damaging the guard
- Heavy rain flows quickly through the screen and into the gutter
Atlas Leaf Guard performs especially well in situations where strong water flow and durability are important.
- Areas like Central Florida with heavy rainfall
- Supergutter systems located between a house and screen enclosure
- Homes with tile roofs or metal roofs
- Problem areas such as roof valleys where water concentrates
Do I Need Leaf Guards?
Leaf guards can be a helpful upgrade for many homes. By blocking most debris from entering the gutter, they help maintain proper water flow and significantly reduce how often gutters need to be cleaned.
During your estimate we are happy to look at your home and discuss whether leaf guards make sense for your situation. In some cases, we may recommend installing them only in certain areas where debris tends to collect.
