Gutter Repairs

Gecko Gutter performs repairs on existing gutters. Due to the unknown nature of the quality and workmanship of pre-existing gutters, we cannot warranty repairs unless our company installed the original gutters. Gecko Gutter charges a minimum fee of $250 for any repairs.

Gutter Removal

Gecko Gutter offers the removal of old gutter systems and downspouts. We will take the removed materials away with us to be recycled at no additional charge.

We can also schedule removal of existing gutters separately if you plan to paint your house or have your fascia cleaned between removing old gutters and installing new gutter.

Interior & Exterior Gutter Cleaning

Our meticulous technicians ensure your gutters are spotless inside and out. We thoroughly clean and rinse the interior, ensuring your gutters and downspouts function perfectly. For the exterior, Gecko uses a gentle yet effective wash with mild surfactants, adding life and shine to your gutter system.

 FAQ

  • Absolutely. We carry both liability insurance to cover your property, as well as complete worker's compensation insurance to cover all of our installers in case of injury. All gutter installers are employees, on payroll (not subcontractors), which ensures they are covered by our worker’s compensation policy.

  • Yes. We are a proper and legally licensed business with the Florida Division of Corporations. You can find our active listing under our name, Gecko Gutter LLC, on the Florida Division of Corporations website here: www.sunbiz.org

Gutter installation is considered an exterior modification/attachment. Because gutters do not affect the structural integrity of your home, gutter installation does not require a license from Florida's Department of Business and Profession Regulation, and the DBPR does not offer a license for gutter installation.

  • As of 2024, Orange, Seminole, and Lake Counties do not require a permit for gutter installation. Individual counties in Florida have different permitting rules. If you are located outside these counties, please check with the permitting office for your county.

  • Many HOAs do require prior approval for gutter installation. This is usually accomplished by submitting an application to them, along with copies of your installation company's estimate form, licensure, and insurance, then waiting for approval. You will need to check with your HOA to determine their specific requirements. HOAs also may require a highlighted survey. If so, simply forward an image of your survey to info@geckogutter.comand we will highlight it for you. Please feel free to call us for additional information or assistance with forms.

  • The most common way gutters fail is at the seams, where pieces are joined. A seamless gutter means that all of your straight pieces of gutter will be run out in one continuous piece, resulting in fewer seams to invite leakage or ruin the smooth lines of your gutter system.

  • Aluminum is the most common gutter material by far, with vinyl coming in a distant second. Vinyl is the cheapest option; however, aluminum gutters are stronger than vinyl, allowing them to carry more water. Aluminum is not affected by the Florida sun, lasting around 20 years with regular maintenance.

  • Residential, K-style gutter comes in 5", 6", and 7" widths.

5" is generally insufficient to handle the amount of water that runs off of a roof in heavy Florida rains, and can generally only be found in building supply stores for installation by homeowners.

We offer strong, 6" & 7" seamless gutter, which capably handles the large amounts of water that is regularly encountered during our long rainy season.

If you have a tile or metal roof, 7" gutter is strongly recommended. Tile sits higher above the fascia than shingles, and metal roofs regularly overhang the edges of the roof farther, than standard shingles. This additional 1-2" height or overhang blocks a portion of the gutter, requiring the extra inch provided by 7" gutters to make up the difference.

The thickness of the vast majority of gutters on residential homes is .027 gauge. Some companies may tell you that you need .032 gauge. We can quote it and install it for you, and it is not that much more expensive, but in almost all cases it is unnecessary, so it is only quoted upon request.

  • In regard to metals, corrosion is a generic term that refers to the deterioration of metals and alloys (metal mixed with other metals or elements).

Rust is one particular type of corrosion, and the only metal that rusts is iron. Since our aluminum gutters are 100% aluminum (not an alloy) and have no iron in them, they will not rust.

While aluminum does not rust, it does corrode in other ways. Aluminum is a very reactive metal. It reacts with a variety of things such as:

    • overly acidic rainwater (can be caused by car exhaust and other air pollutants)

    • various materials and elements found in sand and dirt (carried into your gutters on windy days the same way it builds up on your vehicle and other surfaces)

    • decomposing vegetation such as leaves left in gutters

    • ingredients like silica in the shingle grit that wears off of your roof

After many years, as with any material, your aluminum gutters will begin to show visible corrosive deterioration, most commonly at the corner seams. Eventually, these processes will lead to leaks, and require replacement. The standard usable life of gutters is 20+ years. The “+” depends strongly on how well they are maintained.

Keeping your gutters clear with regular cleanings and/or leaf guard helps slow the corrosive process, giving you every penny’s worth out of your rain gutter investment.

  • We install our gutters using interior hangers spaced every 24", which is very conservative. This ensures your gutters will be smooth, strong and straight, will not sag or warp, and can carry plenty of water.

  • K-style gutter is the type of gutter you see on almost all residential homes. The back of K gutter is flat so that your home's fascia can support it, and the front is styled to look like crown molding. The front edge is bowed out to catch the greatest amount of rain during heavy rainfall.

  • The easy answer is to discuss your home's unique issues with one of our estimators. Other than that, we'd recommend you start by identifying any suspected problem areas, such as spots where:

    · water is digging troughs in the ground, wearing soil away from the walls, exterior corners, and foundation of your home

    · excess rainwater is carrying supporting earth away from sidewalks, patios, A/C pads, landscaping, etc.

    · mold or mildew growing on the fascia or walls of your home

    · dirt and mud are splashing onto and/or staining the paint, stucco, or siding of your home

    · water accumulates, impeding use of an area

    · water is sitting, inviting insects and mosquito breeding

  • Absolutely. We are always available to perform repairs large and small. A $250 minimum labor charge will apply for repairs to offset dispatching of a truck, machine and tools, gas, labor, insurance, and administrative costs.

  • Labor: We offer a lifetime warranty on all new installation labor. For as long as you own your home, we guarantee that your gutters will remain free from defective workmanship, or we will be back to fix it.

Repairs: We are happy to make repairs to your existing gutters. This includes things such as downspout repair/replacement, repitching gutters that are improperly pitched (water is flowing the wrong way), adding interior hangers to older gutters whose spikes are no longer staying in their holes. Due to the unknown factor of existing gutter age, materials, and condition, repairs cannot be warranted, as they are a temporary fix.

Resealing seams: When seams begin to fail, it often indicates that gutters are at the end of their usable life. Resealing seams is a difficult and imperfect process, and it is often not possible to remove all of the existing sealant in order to create an optimal new seal. Due to the unknown factor of existing gutter age, materials, condition, and type of prior sealant, reseals cannot be warranted, as they are a temporary fix. We also understand that the cost of replacing your gutters may not be in the budget at any given time, so we do offer to reseal seams to help homeowners get a little more use out of their gutter system.

Materials: Gecko Gutter offers a 20-year warranty on new gutter materials.

Leaf guard: Leaf guard warranties vary depending on the brand purchased and are provided by the leaf guard manufacturer

  • We opened for business in August 2020. We are now in our fifth year, and have already had the pleasure of serving thousands of customers, installing over 100,000 feet of gutter and leaf guard.

  • We have satellite storefronts in Apopka and Mount Dora. Most of our business, however, is done on-site, so office hours are by appointment only. We sincerely appreciate our customers who choose to support local businesses.

  • Yes! With the exception of a few colors from certain suppliers, all colors are the same price. While black and white are the most common colors by far, you can choose from a large selection of prepainted aluminum. Certain special-order colors can sometimes take a week or two to arrive, so ask about lead time and consider your scheduling needs when choosing a color.

Here is a sample of the polycoat colors that are normally available:

    https://www.spectrametals.com/colors/polycoat

Gutters and downspouts are also paintable. It is common for customers to use leftover house paint to paint the downspouts to match the house so that they blend in.

Ask your estimator to show you a current color sample deck, as colors change yearly.

  • Absolutely! If you want to match your downspouts to the primary color of your house to “camouflage” them, just pick your color! There is no additional charge for this.

  • Not at this time. The most common residential use of supergutter involves installation of the supergutter (box-shaped gutter) between the pool enclosure frame and the roof fascia of residential homes. Because installing or replacing supergutter includes attaching it to/detaching it from a pool enclosure frame, we recommend that customers who need assistance with supergutter contact their pool enclosure company, in order to ensure that any existing warranty remains intact.

  • We accept cash, Zelle, and checks.

If necessary, we also accept debit cards, Visa, Mastercard, and American Express through the Clover payment system. We are charged a 3% credit card fee for all credit and debit card payments, and do not pass that on to the customer, so credit cards are accepted as a last resort convenience to the customer if no other payment types are an option.

  • Yes! We offer 30-day (two equal payments), 90-day 3-payment, and 90-day 4-payment same-as-cash financing for all projects over $1,000. Payment plans MUST be specified and requested a minimum of 7 days in advance to give the office time to write your contract and get it signed by all parties.

Once your gutter project has been completed to your satisfaction, payments are due as follows:

    30-day

    50% due upon completion

50% due 30 days after installation

    90-day 3-payment

    50% due upon completion

25% due 45 days after installation

25% due 90 days after installation

    90-day 4-payment

    25% due upon completion

25% due 30 days after installation

25% due 60 days after installation

25% due 90 days after installation

We do not charge any fee whatsoever for this convenience.

  • We use a system called Clover, which allows us to take your debit or credit card information over the phone or send you an electronic invoice that you can pay easily through your phone or computer, whichever you prefer.

Please be aware that Clover charges a 3% fee for their service, and we do not pass on that fee to our customers, therefore we request that credit cards be used only if other payment types are not an option.

  • We never ask for any money upfront for residential installations. Your balance, however, is due in full upon successful and complete installation of your gutter system.

  • All four major gutter suppliers we source from distribute .027 gauge, 15" aluminum gutter roll as their quality standard for residential gutter work. It is sturdy enough for anything Florida can throw at it.

.032 gauge is also available upon request, but is an unnecessary cost. .027 is what is installed on the vast majority of homes, and with our tight hanger spacing, there is no need to worry about sagging or warping. Ask your estimator to show you a sample.

  • Gecko Gutter offers two types of gutter guard (aka: leaf guard):

Bulldog Leaf Guard - Bulldog is an excellent screw-on product that is attached directly to your gutter and fascia. It will keep out all general debris. Due to the slightly larger hole size, Bulldog does allow shingle grit to pass through, requiring very occasional cleaning every few years. Bulldog is excellent for gutters on homes with shingle roofs, a low-to-medium roof pitch, and no pine trees.

    www.bulldoggutterguard.com

Atlas Stainless Steel Screen - Atlas is also a screw-on product, bent to adjust to your specific roofline and must be installed at the correct pitch to be optimally effective. The mesh is stainless steel, and the ribbing is 100% aluminum. The mesh weave of this product is very small (550 microns/.55mm), and does an excellent job of blocking foliage and all but the tiniest pieces of shingle grit from your gutters, eliminating the need for gutter cleaning. This product also has a very high flow rate compared to punched metal-type leaf guard, for superior water flow in heavy rains. It is a superior product choice for areas of high water flow.
